Background

Peter began his racing career in 1997 in the Junior TKM karting championship and his promising form in the early years led to him being awarded the Protrain driver of the Year in 2000, after securing wins at Kimbolton, Shenington, Whilton Mill and Rowrah.

Despite a relatively late start in karting, Peter graduated successfully to top level British Karting in Junior Intercontinental A and ranked among the top 12 juniors in Britain. He claimed fourth in the PF Winter Series in 2001.

Graduating to the Senior ICA class in November 2001, Peter won a heat at his first Senior level race, the British Open Championship at Rowrah. He followed this with an excellent fourth at the first round of the Winter Super Libre Series at PF International on November 4th against top level opposition, capping a superb season with five wins in total.

2002 season

Peter started the 2002 season with an excellent 5th in the Winter Super Libre and moved on to  the Garda Winter Cup held annually in Italy, Peter acquitted himself well in the wet conditions in which qualifying and the heats took place, comfortably earning himself a slot in the final, in which he drove through the field well to10th (7th on the road but was dropped back to 10th due to penalties incurred when his engine failed at the start)

Peter Then moved on to the Margutti trophy held in Parma Italy where he showed excellent pace all weekend to qualify well and finish in the top 5 in one of his heats. In the final Peter made a rare error and failed to finish the race where he felt he could have comfortably finished in the top six.

The Super One Series was hard fought throughout the season. Peter completed the season gaining several top finishes, notably  two fourth places at Rowrah on his way to a well earned 9th in the British Intercontinental A Championship despite engine problems mid-season .

2003 season

In 2003 Peter made the step up to Formula A in the MSA British championships, continued to race ICA in the European championships.

The year didn't start well with Peter Struggling to get to grips with the new class in the British championships. As the season progressed things began to look up With some encouraging performances in the Italian Winter cup in Garda and the Margutti Trophy in Parma.

At the European championship qualifier in Lyon Peter finished an Excellent 6th overall, thus qualifying for the European championship final in Corridonia Italy.

In the mean time Peter was moving up the order in the British Championship with some impressive results. In late August Peter took part in the ICA European championship final at Corridonia in Italy, finishing a stunning 10th and top British driver. This result meant that Peter had qualified to take part in the Formula A World championship At Sarno in Southern Italy.

Peter continued to impress in the British Championship with several top four finishes putting him in a strong position entering the last round of the Championship, where a technical problem lead to his first DNF of the year dropping him to 7th in the championship.

At the World championship Peter struggled with a lack of track time to learn the new tyres and track but did respectably in qualifying and the heats enabling him to finish an acceptable 9th in the Federation cup.
